Certified Personal Trainer

Running

As an NASM (National Association of Sports Medicine) certified personal trainer for nearly 20 years, I work with individuals, couples and small groups to help you feel healthy, energetic and strong. Whether your goal is to lose weight, stave off chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease, feel like yourself again post-partum, or learn how to get off the elliptical and into the weight room, I am here for you!

WHAT IS THE PERSONAL TRAINING PROCESS?

  • Assessment and Goals – I will analyze your starting point and focus on your particular goals, strengths, and needs.
  • Designing Your Program
 – I do not use cookie cutter formulaic trainings plans. I will create a personalized fitness and nutrition plan for you. If you hate pushups, then no pushups! Have arthritic knees? No, problem! I will cater the program to your fitness level, number of days training, injuries/illnesses and goals. We set progressive bench marks to evaluate each step of the way to achieving your ultimate fitness and health goals.
  • Workout At each session – I will monitor your form, breathing pattern, and perceived effort level to ensure you are working at the appropriate level.
  • Motivation – You want to feel your best. You know you should exercise. You even know what to do and how to get into shape. You simply need the motivation to actually do it. I will use my health coaching techniques (utilizing the psychology behind behavior change) to motivate you and help keep you accountable.

Older Adult Fitness

Older adults are the core of my private training clientele. Your desire to remain strong, mentally acute and active inspire me. We work hard, but have a lot of fun in the process. As a Certified Brain Health Trainer, I combine physical and cognitive tasks to help your brain health! I have worked with absolute beginners and life-long exercisers, those who work out on their own and those who are resistant to even starting. I have trained clients with hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, herniated discs, MS, stroke, and many with replaced hips and knees. And they all see results!

WHAT IS THE TRAINING PROCESS?
  • Assessment and Goals –
You want to get or keep your body and mind strong and fit. You want to keep your independence, balance, flexibility and best quality of life. I assess where you are now, and we work together to get you where you want to be.
  • Designing Your Program –
Based on your specific needs, abilities and goals, I will design a safe and fun exercise plan, and guide and motivate you every step of the way. We will especially focus on balance, abdominal and core strength, brain health and neuroplasticity, and weight bearing exercises to improve bone density.
  • Workout – At each session, I will monitor your form, breathing pattern, and perceived effort level to ensure you are working at the appropriate level.
  • Motivation – You want to feel your best. You know you should exercise.  You even know what to do and how to get into shape. You simply need the motivation to actually do it.
